Research- Previous Elbow Albums

In order to get the right feel for my own design for the Elbow album cover I needed to research into what had previously been produced for them by other artists.

I found that a lot of the work produced for elbow reflected the type of music which they produce, it is very mellow and simple, the same as the designs below. However i did find that a wide range of different mediums were used, such as Illustration, photography and sculpture. The colour palette was often limited to 4 colours and always very concept driven, 

This particular cover really stood out to me as being really different from the others, most of the covers used for Elbows music are Illustrative, unlike this one which is a simple Photograph. The colours set the scene as being mellow and almost sad.
